In an away match last night against section rivals Central Catholic, the Gators tasted defeat for the first time this season.  Despite dominant hitting performances by Darious Farrar (17 kills) and Toktobek "Tokyo" Kubanychbekov (12 kills), the Vikings' scrappy defense and quick strike middles were too much for the Gators to handle. Individual set scores were as follows: (1st) Central Catholic (25) - Gateway (16), (2nd) Gateway (25) - Central Catholic (20), (3rd) Central Catholic (25) - Gateway (21), and (4th) Central Catholic (25) - Gateway (23).  After receiving notice of postponement of the Plum match scheduled for today, the Gators will return to action this Saturday in the Seneca Valley tournament before hitting the road next Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, for an away contest versus Fox Chapel.

Last night, the Gators traveled to Penn Hills to face off against the Indians in a AAA Section 4 match.  Once again, Gateway finished the evening with a clean 3-0 sweep of Penn Hills with individual set scores of 25-13, 25-11, & 25-14.  Thanks to the tenacious serving of Daniel Bozicevic, who racked up an impressive eight aces, and the powerful swings of Darious Farrar, who registered 11 kills, the Gators improved to 2-0 in Section 4 play and 4-0 overall on the season.  This weekend, the Gators will travel to Upper Saint Clair for their annual tournament, and they return to section play on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, for an away match against the Central Catholic Vikings at Central Catholic High School.  JV play will begin at 6:00, and Varsity will follow at 7:00.

On Tuesday evening, the Gateway Gators hosted the North Hills Indians to open AAA Section 4 ball for their season.  The smooth hands of Tommy Nikou and the crisp passes of Owen Echegaray and Ethan Nguyen allowed for the Gators to feast on the net.  Led by Darious Farrar (11 kills), Daniel Bozicevic (8 kills), and Chase Lewandowski (5 kills), the Gators secured a clean 3-0 sweep of the Indians.  The win puts Gateway Boys Volleyball at 3-0 overall, and 1-0 in section play.  On Thursday, Gateway will look to chomp their way to victory for their second AAA Section 4 match of the season when the Gators face off against the Penn Hills Indians.  JV play will begin at 6:00, and Varsity will follow at 7:00.

On Friday, March 28th, 2025, the Gators visited the McKeesport Tigers for a non-conference match that saw the Gators continue their unblemished start to the season with another 3-0 sweep.  The Gators were led in serving by junior Toktobek “Tokyo” Kubanychbekov and in hits by senior Darious Farrar.  The Gators open up section play on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, with a home match against the North Hills Indians.  JV play begins at 6:00 p.m., and Varsity play will immediately follow.
